Essayas Dessalegn
Managing Director & Founder
Essayas Dessalegn is a Senior Bridge and Structural Engineer with more than 30 years of experience across Ethiopia, Eritrea, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Zambia, and Tanzania. He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Addis Ababa University and is a registered professional engineer in both Ethiopia (Practicing Professional Bridge Engineer – PPBE-14) and Zambia (PE Registration with Engineering Institute of Zambia and R.Eng Registration with the Engineering Registration Board of Zambia), with credentials from IABSE (International Association of Bridge and Structural Engineers) and the Ethiopian Association of Civil Engineers (EACE).
His career took him from senior bridge design work at Halcrow International Partnership in Dubai, spanning major infrastructure projects across the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, to management roles back in Ethiopia overseeing bridge asset management for the Ethiopian Roads Authority and, later, as General Manager of Whiteknight Construction Management Consultants. In August 2017, he founded TACT Engineering Group to bring that international experience into an independent practice built on technical rigor and long-term partnerships with the funders and government agencies that make regional infrastructure possible.
Today TACT operates from offices in Ethiopia and Zambia, continuing that same standard of engineering across both countries.
